On your blog, tell us what you think about the government’s decision to restrict the number of tourists able to visit this special site. Is it fair? Be sure to tell us why you feel the way that you do.
Hey bloggers,Today i will be completing the text above hop you enjoy!
I think this decision is unfair because Machu Picchu is an open space were everyone should be allowed to visit,Plus it is a free world! I feel confused on why the government would make this decision.
Comment below your opinion.
Hi there, my name is Luseane as you may know. I really like how you asked a question. Also in answer to your question i disagree, it's not a free world and some places (like Machu Picchu) are out of zone for a good reason. This reminded me of a dessert for some reason. Maybe next time you could add more detail. If you would like, my blog is http://wpsluseanem.blogspot.co.nz

Hi Araura,
ReplyDeleteWell done on finishing this Summer Learning Journey activity. I disagree with you here as I think that the government has a valid reason on limiting the amount of people that can visit Machu Picchu. They just want to preserve the mountain for the years to come. Keep up the good work.
Hi Araura!
ReplyDeleteNice work on this amazing post! It is amazing about how many different thoughts people have on one topic! I think if you sum up the fact that some people cannot restrain themselves from littering! We won't preserve and protect! But all to their own! The government are trying to save historic place for generations to come! It is also unfair on others. I am stuck in the middle of this disagreement!
Keep up the good work!

Hi Araura,
ReplyDeleteIt's Leslie here, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team. I can appreciate that it can be hard to picture a place that is so far away from our home and that we haven't seen ourselves.
Machu Picchu isn't an open space free for everyone to visit, I'm afraid. It's an ancient, sacred space on the top of a mountain in a country called Peru. It's a very special place to Peruvian people and so they want it to continue to exist for a long time. If there are too many people travelling to see it, the pathways and the ruins will be damaged even more than they already have been. So the people of Peru feel they need to protect this space from over-tourism and so they're going to say that there's a limit to the number of visitors who can come each year.
I can appreciate that it doesn't seem fair to not be open to have everyone come who wishes to, but I think that there is a lot of wear and tear that happens when tourists visit any where.
I hope that you've had a chance to do some fun, touristy things over your summer holiday and that you're really enjoying your summer! It's great that you've chosen to be a part of this Summer Learning Journey program. Good for you!!!
Cheers,
Leslie
