  3. Kia ora Araura,

You have started the Summer Learning Journey off with a bang, completing all 3 activities for day 1. Awesome work, Araura. I like how you shared that you would feel nervous and scared because you experience sea sickness. Do you think the water would be quite calm or rough out at sea in a waka?

As the activity asks you to write a letter to a friend, I would love to see you adopt the letter format to obtain full points for this activity. I will give you an example of something I might write.

    Dear sister,

We have arrived in New Zealand!

The journey over in the waka was terrifying as the weather was very stormy. I think we are lucky to be alive. My stomach wasn't too happy about the rough waters and I was sea sick the whole way. However, the adventure wasn't all bad, as we saw many fish, dolphins, and sharks. I was keeping an eye out for a whale, as that would have just made the journey, but unfortunately we didn't spot one.

We have made a temporary hut and will hopefully start building a whare (Maori word for house) in the next few days.

    I miss and love you,
    Megan

I look forward to seeing what you come up with Araura.
    Megan :)

    1. Hey Araura,

This is excellent. Thank you so much for recreating your letter. I really like how you have thought about your stop overs and how you would make huts. In the 1800's what do you think they would have made their huts out of?

      Megan :)

    2. Hey Araura,

Its me Toeumu. I like your post because you have earned your full points by doing it properly. I am also a little confused because you wrote dear friend did you forget there name?

This post reminded me of when i did this post and i wrote a letter to Megan and i posted it on my blog. Maybe next time you could write the friends name or make the poster bigger.
