Activity 3: Flying Fungi-Summer learning Journey-week 3 Day 2

Let’s imagine that we tested the air in your classroom and found 7 different kinds of mold.
The cleaner says that it takes 5 days for each mold to be eradicated (removed).
f the school had to remove each mold one at a time, how long would it take to remove all the mold from the classroom?

It would take 5 weeks/35 days..Hope you enjoyed

  1. Kia Orana Araura,

You have used your multiplication knowledge to solve this problem, ka pai. I like that you put a little description above your working out so we can see that you multiplied the different kinds of mould (7) by the number of days it would take to get rid of each of them (5). You are right it would indeed take 35 days or 5 weeks to get rid of all the mould, ka mau te wehi!

Perhaps next time you could take a bit of time to really explain each of the steps you took, perhaps a Screencastify would be useful to help you do that.

Math can be very tricky, well done on persevering and using the knowledge you have to help solve the problem at hand. Imagine if there were nine types of mould instead of seven.. How many days do you think it'd take to clear it all out?

Keep persevering and working hard. :)

    Toe feiloa'i fo'i,

    Cia.

  2. Hi Araura,
Well done on finishing this Summer Learning Journey activity. I think that you have done a good job using your time tables skills to work out this math problem. Those tricky moulds will get removed slowly but surely! Would you clean them up yourself if you were paid? Keep up the good work.
