Activity 2: The Black Drain/Summer Learning Journey week 2 Day 5

Hi Bloggers,Today i am going to be naming 2 polluted rivers and lakes. I will be finding the location of these Rivers and Lake and what they are doing to stop the cause of the pollution.

My first river is Waikato,Waikato river is located in the north island. It New Zealand largest river.

My second river is Wairua River,Wairua river is located in North land.

To stop polluting the water it is time to put our rubbish in the correct place witch is the rubbish bin.People have started to wash their cars on the grass so the water from the chemicals does not go down the drain and into the water.

I hope you enjoyed reading, Thanks for reading,Blog you later,Bye

  1. Kia ora Araura,

It's Toe'umu. I love the idea of people washing there car on the grass so there is no polluted water going down the drains. This reminds me that 90% of the sea is not discovered yet. Maybe next time you could add a better reflection.

    Blog you later,

  3. Konnichiwa Araura,

Well done on providing the names and locations for two polluted rivers in Aotearoa. Perhaps next time, you could add a little more information about each river. For example, what is polluting each of the rivers? You could also add where in the North island each of these rivers are.

You have also talked about things people are doing in their everyday lives to make sure they are not contributing to the pollution of these rivers. They will look so much more beautiful once they are clean...

Thinking about these polluted rivers reminds me of how polluted lots of our beaches are. Waikowhai Bay is located near my home, I like to take the Dog there for a walk and a little splash around. I've read that it is safe to swim in, but I don't often see people swimming there. Have you ever gone swimming at Waikowhai Bay?

    Toe feiloa'i fo'i,

    Cia.

  4. Hi Araura,
Well done on finishing this activity. You are absolutely right, people should be making sure that they are putting their rubbish in the correct place instead of dumping on the ground so that it would eventually end up in our rivers and oceans. I feel really bad for the fish who eat the rubbish and end up dying. Hopefully the Waikato and the Wairua rivers get cleaned up one day. Keep up the good work.
